Birmingham, AL – Clear skies and cooler air settle over Alabama this Saturday, but overnight temperatures are expected to bring a frost risk to parts of the state through early Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, low temperatures tonight will dip into the mid-30s across northeast Alabama, where patchy frost is likely. Cities including Gadsden, Jasper, and Anniston could see lows between 35°F and 37°F. Meanwhile, areas farther south like Montgomery and Auburn will stay milder in the low 40s.
Saturday daytime highs reached the mid-60s in the north and climbed to around 70°F across central and southern cities such as Birmingham and Montgomery. The clear evening skies are expected to continue overnight, contributing to rapid cooling.
Sunday brings warmer conditions statewide, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-70s in the north to near 78°F in the southern counties. Birmingham, Selma, and Demopolis are all forecast to see temperatures rise sharply.
Residents in colder regions should protect plants and sensitive vegetation overnight. Although frost in April isn’t uncommon for Alabama, it’s the last notable dip before a warmer stretch begins next week.
No precipitation is forecast through Sunday, keeping travel and outdoor plans on track statewide.
