Montgomery, AL – A section of Interstate 65 in Alabama is shut down today following a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

According to ALEA officials, the accident took place around 4:35 a.m. near the 148-mile marker in Lowndes County. Both southbound lanes of I-65 remain blocked and will likely be closed for an undetermined amount of time as authorities investigate and work to clear the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are currently on site and are expected to provide updates as the situation evolves. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and prepare for delays in the area.
