Macon County, AL – A single-vehicle crash early Monday morning has shut down part of Interstate 85 in Macon County, authorities said.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the accident occurred at approximately 5:43 a.m. near the 38-mile marker. The southbound lanes are currently closed and will remain blocked for an undetermined amount of time as troopers investigate the crash.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division reported that troopers are on the scene and actively working to assess the situation. Drivers traveling through the area should expect significant delays and are urged to find alternate routes.
At this time, ALEA has not released information regarding possible injuries or the circumstances surrounding the crash. Crews will continue to monitor the roadway and provide updates as the situation develops.
