According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 4:12 p.m. when deputies conducted a stop along U.S. Highway 41. During the interaction, deputies suspected the female driver was under the influence of narcotics. A further investigation led to the arrest of Terri Elyse Ward, 36, and Deonte Marquis Clark, 41, both of Harvest, Alabama.

Ward was allegedly found operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a narcotic, and she faces charges including possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Clark was also allegedly in possession of a Schedule I substance and paraphernalia, and additionally faces a charge of possessing a firearm as a serious violent felon.

Authorities reported seizing three firearms, suspected fentanyl, and suspected cocaine during the stop. Both individuals were booked into the Benton County Jail and held on $20,000 bonds each.

The Indiana State Police assisted in the investigation, with Trooper Farmer and his K-9 partner Bo supporting deputies on the scene. Officials noted the stop as an example of successful interagency cooperation to improve public safety in the region.
