Mobile, AL – Boaters across Mobile Bay and surrounding waters are being urged to navigate with caution as dense fog blankets the region into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CDT Monday, impacting northern and southern Mobile Bay, Mississippi Sound, and coastal waters stretching from Pensacola, Florida, to Pascagoula, Mississippi. Visibility is expected to fall to 1 nautical mile or less, creating hazardous conditions for navigation.

The advisory also covers the Pensacola Bay system, Perdido Bay, and both western and eastern Choctawhatchee Bay, extending up to 60 nautical miles offshore in some areas. Mariners are advised to use radar, compass, and fog signals if travel is necessary during the advisory period.

The dense fog, driven by stable atmospheric conditions over relatively warm water, is common during seasonal transitions along the Gulf Coast. Still, it presents increased risk for collisions and disorientation on open water.

The National Weather Service recommends ensuring running lights are on and slowing speed when visibility is low. Boaters should monitor marine radios and local updates closely for real-time changes.

This advisory is expected to lift by mid-morning Monday, but reduced visibility may persist in isolated patches through midday.
