Huntsville, AL – The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a heat advisory for all of the mid-Tennessee Valley, effective through 7 PM this evening. Residents are advised to take precautions as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels, with the heat index soaring up to 109 degrees.
According to the NWS, the heat advisory covers areas including Huntsville, Florence, Fayetteville, and surrounding regions. The combination of high temperatures and humidity can create a heat index that feels significantly hotter than the actual temperature, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, remain hydrated, and take frequent breaks if they must be outside.
The forecast for Huntsville indicates that today’s high will reach 95 degrees, with slightly cooler temperatures expected in the coming days. Friday will see a high of 93 degrees, with Saturday bringing some relief as temperatures dip to a high of 89 degrees. However, the heat is expected to return with highs in the low 90s through the early part of next week.
