Birmingham, Ala. – A surge of early-season heat is set to expand across Alabama and Georgia, bringing summerlike conditions and largely dry roads just as spring break travel ramps up.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, both states will experience temperatures running 30 to 50 percent above normal from March 24 through March 30, while precipitation remains near normal but limited in overall coverage. This pattern favors extended sunshine with only isolated, brief rain chances.
Across Birmingham, Montgomery, Atlanta, and Macon, daytime highs are expected to climb into the upper 70s and low to mid-80s. Morning temperatures will stay mild in the 50s and 60s. Major corridors including I-20, I-65, I-75, and I-85 are expected to remain mostly dry, supporting steady regional travel.
Drivers should prepare for warmer conditions during peak afternoon hours, which can increase fatigue on longer trips. Stay hydrated and plan fuel stops ahead of time. Morning fog may develop in low-lying areas but should clear quickly after sunrise.
For baseball fans across Alabama and Georgia, including those following the Braves, the opening stretch of the season will feel more like early summer, with light clothing recommended even into the evening.
This warm pattern is expected to hold through late March, with only minor system changes possible heading into early April.
