Tallahassee, FL – Dry air and low humidity levels are increasing the risk of wildfires across the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia today, with additional severe weather threats looming early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the region faces elevated fire danger throughout the afternoon of March 26 due to relative humidity levels dipping as low as 22% to 28% inland, though slightly higher near coastal areas. The affected zone includes cities such as Tallahassee, Panama City, Albany, Valdosta, and Dothan.

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, keep vehicles off dry grass, and limit use of equipment that may generate sparks. An emergency preparedness plan is also advised.

The fire danger will shift to a broader weather concern on Monday, March 31, as forecasters track a system capable of producing severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center currently assigns a slight risk (15–29% probability) for severe weather across the same tri-state area from early Monday through Tuesday morning.

While detailed forecasts are still developing, residents should monitor local alerts and prepare for changing weather conditions as the weekend progresses.
