Tallahassee, FL – A Flood Watch has been issued for parts of southeast Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, with significant rainfall expected through Monday afternoon. Heavy showers and storms are forecast to bring widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches, with some areas seeing up to 10 inches of rain. Flash flooding is a concern, especially in urban and low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service, excessive runoff could lead to flooding along rivers, creeks, and streams, as well as poor drainage systems. Areas like Tallahassee, Panama City, and Valdosta, among others, are at heightened risk. The watch is in effect from now through Monday afternoon, with more rounds of rain expected through Sunday night into Monday morning.
Residents in flood-prone areas should remain vigilant and be prepared for possible warnings. Those living near rivers and creeks, as well as in urban areas, may see flooding conditions develop rapidly. Localized flooding could cause travel disruptions, especially on secondary roads and in areas with poor drainage.
The National Weather Service urges those in affected regions to monitor conditions closely and take necessary precautions to safeguard property and ensure safety. With rainfall amounts approaching flash flood thresholds, remaining informed and ready to take action is crucial as the storm system progresses.
