Mobile, AL – Flood warnings have been extended for the Tombigbee River near Coffeeville Dam and near Leroy, as the river is expected to rise above flood stage starting Tuesday morning. Minor flooding is forecasted to affect areas in Clarke, Washington, and Choctaw counties, with potential impacts to pastureland, livestock, and local roads.
According to the National Weather Service, the Tombigbee River near Coffeeville Dam is forecast to rise above its flood stage of 29 feet, reaching 35.5 feet by Saturday evening. Flooding is expected in low-lying areas, including pastureland and roads, with old ferry roads near the river beginning to flood. Livestock in affected areas should be moved to higher ground to avoid the rising waters.
Similarly, the Tombigbee River near Leroy is expected to exceed its flood stage of 24 feet, reaching 27.4 feet by Saturday evening. This could lead to flooding of low-lying farm and pasturelands, and water could approach roads on the west side of the river.
