Akron, OH – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Summit, Portage, and Trumbull Counties until 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

Forecasters report that lake effect snow will continue through the night, with additional accumulations up to 2 inches possible. The heaviest snow is expected in narrow bands that could briefly produce snowfall rates near 1 inch per hour, especially during the late evening and early morning hours.

The National Weather Service warns that slippery road conditions will develop across parts of Akron, Ravenna, Kent, Warren, and surrounding communities. The snow could lead to reduced visibility and slow travel speeds, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Turnpike Commission, motorists should drive with caution, allow extra travel time, and delay nonessential travel if possible. Drivers can check ohgo.com for updated road and traffic conditions.

Snow showers are expected to gradually diminish after sunrise Tuesday as winds shift and lake effect activity weakens.
