CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sunshine holds through Saturday, but the break in dry weather won’t last. Rain chances return Sunday and climb sharply early next week, with showers and possible thunderstorms pushing across northern Ohio by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, probabilities for rain reach 60 to 75 percent Monday and Tuesday across cities from Cleveland to Akron, Youngstown, and Toledo. The heaviest rainfall periods are expected Monday afternoon into Tuesday, when commutes could be slowed by wet roads and reduced visibility.

Cleveland shows some of the highest rain odds, peaking at 75 percent midday Monday and again Tuesday. Akron-Canton, Youngstown, and Erie are not far behind, with a widespread push of moisture keeping the entire region damp. While not a total washout, forecasters say a few lingering showers could persist into midweek.

Drivers should plan for slower travel and possible ponding on roads. Keeping an umbrella and rain gear handy is advised, especially during morning and evening commutes.

Rain chances ease by Wednesday as conditions trend drier, though additional updates may be issued if storm coverage expands.
