Detroit, Michigan – Wildfire smoke drifting south from Canada continues to cloud Michigan’s skies, keeping an Air Quality Alert in effect through Monday night for the entire state. Drivers and residents are urged to limit time outdoors, especially sensitive groups, as haze and poor air quality settle in across cities from Detroit to Grand Rapids.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, Michigan will see seasonable temperatures and mainly dry weather, aside from a 20% chance for scattered rain or thunderstorms late Tuesday into Wednesday. Lows tonight will dip into the upper 50s, with highs in the low 80s statewide. Haze is expected to linger, especially through Monday, with visibility reduced along major highways including I-94 and I-96.

Humidity will noticeably increase by midweek, leading to a hot and sticky stretch by Thursday and Friday. Residents in Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Traverse City should expect highs climbing toward the mid-80s, with overnight lows staying mild. Officials recommend limiting strenuous activity outdoors and keeping windows closed as smoke lingers.

The current Air Quality Alert is expected to expire Monday night, but more advisories are possible if wildfire smoke continues. Stay tuned for updates and prepare for worsening heat and humidity by late week.
