Lombard, IL – AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois, the Area Agency on Aging for the region, has launched a comprehensive community needs assessment to better understand the priorities of adults aged 60 and older — and the unpaid caregivers who support them.

Covering DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties, the effort seeks to identify local challenges and ensure that services reflect the current realities facing older residents. More than 750,000 older adults live within the eight-county area.

The assessment includes three phases: a completed stakeholder survey, an active survey of older adults and caregivers, and upcoming community listening sessions that will gather personal experiences and feedback. Topics range from health care access and transportation to social connection and caregiver support.

“We understand that most older adults define ‘aging well’ as remaining in their own home or community,” said Marla Fronczak, CEO of AgeGuide. “Our goal is to build systems of care that are responsive, inclusive, and grounded in the lived experiences of older adults.”

Input from the surveys and listening sessions will directly guide AgeGuide’s planning, funding, and advocacy priorities for the next three years. Results will be published on AgeGuide’s website once analysis is complete.
