Fort Wayne, IN – Strong to locally severe storms are expected this afternoon across northeastern Indiana and northwestern Ohio, prompting weather alerts.

According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail are the primary concerns, with potential wind gusts exceeding 60 mph. The best window for storms is between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. EDT. The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded several counties to a slight risk, warning of isolated wind damage, large hail, frequent lightning, and possible flooding. Residents are urged to stay informed and take precautions.

The weather service highlights that storms may develop in the highlighted areas, which include regions east of the Bryan, OH to Fort Wayne to Marion line. The upgraded risk level indicates a higher probability of severe weather conditions, urging residents to secure outdoor items and prepare for possible power outages.
