Albany, NY – Residents across the Capital Region and upstate New York can expect an unseasonably warm and mostly dry week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany. Temperatures are forecast to run 5 to 10 degrees above mid-September norms, with highs generally in the 70s and 80s.
According to NWS Albany, the best chance for rainfall will be limited to isolated showers south and east of Albany on Wednesday, September 17, and across the Adirondacks from late Thursday into early Friday. Most communities, however, should remain dry through the workweek.
The week begins with highs between 73 and 83 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday could bring a few clouds and slightly cooler highs ranging from 68 to 79 degrees. Warmer air returns Thursday with highs near 84, before cooling slightly Friday with highs between 64 and 81 degrees.
Forecasters noted that this pattern will extend the stretch of dry weather across the region, potentially stressing lawns and gardens but providing favorable conditions for outdoor activities. Travelers should keep in mind that any late-week Adirondack showers could create slick roads, though widespread impacts are not expected.
