Burlington, VT – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 7 a.m. Friday for parts of northern New York and northern Vermont, where moderate to heavy snow and strong winds are expected to create difficult travel conditions through Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, snow totals of 2 to 7 inches are expected across the northern Adirondacks and Green Mountains, with higher amounts likely at higher elevations. Wind gusts up to 40 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow, further reducing visibility in open areas and mountain passes.
The heaviest snowfall is forecast Thursday evening into the overnight hours, impacting both the Thursday morning and evening commutes with snow-covered roads and slick conditions.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use extra caution, and check 511NY.org or NewEngland511.org for the latest road and traffic updates before traveling.
Snow is expected to taper early Friday, but gusty winds may continue to cause blowing snow in exposed areas.
