Warrensburg, NY – Adirondack communities should prepare for slick conditions Saturday evening as freezing rain moves into Hamilton, Northern Warren, and Northern Fulton counties from 4 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. The system is expected to bring a light but hazardous glaze of ice, potentially impacting travel and outdoor footing through the overnight hours.
According to the National Weather Service, ice accumulations will range from a light glaze to around one-tenth of an inch, enough to create dangerous conditions on roads, bridges, and sidewalks. Even minimal icing can quickly make untreated surfaces hazardous.
Forecasters warn that travel after sunset Saturday may become increasingly difficult as temperatures drop and freezing rain spreads across the region. According to the advisory, isolated power outages are also possible, particularly in higher elevations and areas prone to icing.
Residents are urged to use caution if traveling, reduce speed, and allow extra time for evening plans. Those walking outside should watch for icy steps, porches, and driveways as conditions deteriorate.
Local officials recommend preparing for brief disruptions, checking road conditions frequently, and monitoring updated forecasts as the event approaches.
