Addison, IL – A Thursday morning threat directed at the Edward-Elmhurst Health Center in Addison prompted a swift response from local police and briefly placed several area schools into secure status.
According to the Addison Police Department, the threat was reported by Elmhurst Hospital’s call center and involved an unknown caller expressing anger toward doctors at the Addison facility. Officers responded to the scene and determined there was no active or credible threat to the health center or the public.
As a precaution while officers investigated the situation, Indian Trail, Army Trail, and Lincoln schools were placed in a Secure status. This protocol allows instructional activities to continue inside the buildings while restricting all entry and exit.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the call and the identity of the individual involved. At this time, officials say there is no indication of an ongoing danger.
Authorities stressed that public safety remains a top priority and that the community will be informed immediately should any further threat arise.
