Addison, Illinois – Firefighters, law enforcement, and safety officials are being directed to a new location for an upcoming pyrotechnics training class, set to begin at 8:30 a.m. April 23 in Addison.

According to the Illinois State Fire Marshal, the Fireworks & Explosives Training program will now take place at the Addison Park District’s Centennial Recreation Center on West Centennial Place. The course runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is offered free of charge, with certificates of attendance provided.

The training covers key safety standards and regulations tied to fireworks and explosives, including guidelines from agencies such as NFPA, OSHA, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Topics include display safety, storage requirements, emergency response, and licensing rules.

Officials recommend arriving by 8 a.m. for check-in, with free parking available on the south side of the building. The course is designed for professionals involved in fire service, law enforcement, and code enforcement.

Registration is available online through the State Fire Marshal’s website, and additional sessions may be announced as demand continues.
