Addison, IL – Two residents were hospitalized early Thursday morning after a structure fire broke out at an apartment building on College Boulevard in Addison, according to the Addison Fire Protection District.

Fire crews responded at approximately 2:47 a.m. on September 18, when Engine 73 reported flames visible from a first-floor apartment window. By 3:17 a.m., the fire was extinguished and search operations were completed.

According to officials, firefighters deployed hose lines to contain the blaze and protect interior stairwells, while additional crews searched multiple units under heavy smoke conditions. All residents of the 906 College Blvd. building were safely evacuated and accounted for.

One resident was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, while another was hospitalized due to a separate medical emergency. Both were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. No further injuries were reported.

The Addison Building Department determined the structure unsafe for occupancy until repairs are made. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents.
