Abilene Weather: Risk of Hail, Damaging Winds, and Isolated Tornadoes Sunday

Abilene, TX – The National Weather Service in San Angelo has expanded the Slight Risk area for severe thunderstorms southward to include portions of the western Concho Valley and western Edwards Plateau for Sunday afternoon and evening.

According to the latest update, storms developing across West Central Texas could produce large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. The risk level has been designated as Slight (Level 2 of 5) for cities including San Angelo, Sterling City, Sweetwater, and nearby areas, while a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) remains in place farther east.

Forecasters warn that multiple rounds of thunderstorms could develop through the late afternoon and evening, producing locally heavy rainfall and possible flooding in low-lying areas.
