Abilene, Texas – Scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms could bring localized downpours to parts of West-Central Texas through Friday, with the highest chances west of a Throckmorton-to-Sonora line. Most communities, however, may see little to no rain as the unsettled pattern remains widely hit-or-miss.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, rainfall from Monday through Friday will mostly range between 0.01 to 0.25 inches, with some spots possibly reaching up to 0.5 inches. There’s a 10% chance that heavier showers or storms may produce more than 1 inch of rain, primarily in areas west of San Angelo, including Crockett and Irion counties.
Drivers in rural areas, especially along U.S. Highway 277 and State Highway 70, should stay alert for sudden downpours and localized ponding. While widespread flooding is not expected, brief heavy rain could reduce visibility and create slick conditions.
Residents are encouraged to monitor daily updates, as rainfall intensity and storm placement could shift. Keep devices charged and outdoor plans flexible in case isolated storms develop.
More scattered showers are possible into the weekend, with updates expected as new data becomes available.
