Gainesville, FL – A Gainesville man was arrested late Thursday following allegations he held a victim against their will and threatened them during a dispute over a stolen vehicle.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 7000 block of NW 4th Blvd on Thursday night after receiving reports of a potential battery. Deputies met with a victim who alleged that 37-year-old Rakeem Calhoun had refused to exit their car and claimed he was armed.

The situation escalated when Calhoun reportedly directed the victim to drive to another location, ultimately arriving at a gas station. There, Calhoun allegedly threatened to shoot the victim if they attempted to flee. The victim, fearful due to Calhoun’s reported history of violence, later escaped and contacted authorities.

Deputies located and arrested Calhoun, who now faces charges of False Imprisonment and Aggravated Assault.
