Spokane, WA – The National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane has issued Flood Watches for five major rivers across eastern and central Washington as heavy rain continues to move through the region. Rising water levels are expected from late Wednesday through Saturday morning, with several rivers forecast to exceed flood stage and cause localized flooding and travel disruptions.

Rivers under watch include the Stehekin River at Stehekin, the Entiat River near Ardenvoir, the Wenatchee River at Peshastin, the Coeur d’Alene River at Cataldo, and the St. Joe River at Calder.

Forecast hydrographs show water levels peaking between 7.5 feet and 26 feet, depending on the river. The Stehekin River is expected to rise above minor flood stage at 24 ft, while the Wenatchee River may reach 15.7 ft, triggering major flooding between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. The Coeur d’Alene River is projected to crest near 44.5 ft, flooding low-lying farmland and campgrounds from Cataldo to Harrison.

The NWS warns that road closures, basement flooding, and rising creek levels are possible near rivers and low-lying valleys. Communities such as Green River, Entiat Valley, and Calder could experience flooding of roads, orchards, and RV parks.

Officials advise residents to monitor river gauges, avoid flood-prone roadways, and prepare for rapid water rises as rainfall continues through Thursday.

The Flood Watch remains in effect until Saturday morning, with continued rainfall expected to maintain elevated river levels through the weekend.
