Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle reports that a powerful Pacific system dumped 4 to 6 inches of rain across the Cascades and nearly 7 inches in the Olympic Mountains over the past 24 hours, ending at 10 PM PST Thursday.

The heaviest rainfall was observed on the windward slopes of the Olympic Peninsula, while the Olympic rain shadow kept totals much lower over the central Puget Sound, including the Seattle metro area.

A daily rainfall record was shattered in Bellingham, highlighting the widespread and intense nature of this system.

Forecasters note that runoff from the heavy rain could lead to rising river levels and localized flooding, particularly near the Skokomish River, which often floods after significant rainfall events.

Residents are urged to stay alert for updated flood advisories and use caution on roads where ponding and reduced visibility are possible.
