Indianapolis, IN – IMPD detectives arrested 21-year-old Hayden Dedrick for his alleged role in a January triple shooting that left one man dead.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Capsella Lane on January 2 before 9 p.m. They found three adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders transported two victims to hospitals. The third victim, 29-year-old Sebastian Jones, died at the scene.

Detectives determined a struggle over a firearm led to the shooting. Dedrick allegedly fired at Jones to defend a friend. The friend was also injured. Dedrick left, returned with more ammunition, and fired additional shots, hitting a third person inside the home.

Authorities seized firearms and shell casings. After consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives released all involved parties pending further investigation.

On February 18, police obtained an arrest warrant for Dedrick on attempted murder and aggravated battery charges. U.S. Marshals arrested him on February 20.

The prosecutor’s office ruled Jones’ death a justifiable homicide. Dedrick remains innocent unless proven guilty in court.
