Denver, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect as Colorado braces for heavy snow Sunday morning, potentially causing hazardous road conditions. Areas along the I-25 corridor could see up to five inches of snow, with higher amounts expected in the northern mountains and foothills.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will continue overnight Saturday, intensifying in higher elevations. The mountains could accumulate up to 14 inches, while Boulder, Golden, and Larimer counties may see three to nine inches. Travel along I-70 and the northern I-25 corridor could become slick, particularly during early morning hours.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution and check local traffic updates before heading out. Temperatures will remain cold, with Sunday’s high expected to reach just 30 degrees in Denver, followed by a low of 12 degrees Sunday night.

Looking ahead, conditions will improve starting Monday, with sunny skies and highs near 46 degrees expected through midweek. However, a chance of light snow returns Wednesday and Thursday, bringing colder temperatures back to the region.

Residents in affected areas are urged to prepare for delays and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter travel. The Colorado Department of Transportation recommends keeping emergency kits in vehicles and avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy snowfalls.
