Oakfield Township, MI – A peaceful Sunday afternoon turned perilous when a seven-year-old child was seriously injured after being ejected from a golf cart.
The incident, which unfolded in rural northeastern Kent County, has left the local community in shock. It was around 4:20 p.m. when the accident occurred on McClain Street NE, close to Heintzelman Road, west of Greenville.
Authorities from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office report that an 11-year-old was at the helm of the golf cart with two seven-year-olds aboard as passengers. Tragedy struck when one of the younger passengers fell from the moving vehicle onto the roadway. The injured child was quickly transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, highlighting the dangers of allowing young children to operate such vehicles unsupervised.Â
