Richmond, IN – Arrest Made Following Standoff in Wayne County

Richmond, IN – Wednesday morning, Wayne County, Indiana, experienced a tense standoff when local law enforcement was dispatched to Williamsburg’s Helm Road area. 

According to Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began after a report of a man with a gun following an altercation. Despite multiple attempts to communicate, the suspect, identified as Shaun Fields, 45, of Williamsburg, refused to engage with deputies. In response, Wayne County detectives obtained a search warrant for Fields’ property. A coordinated effort involving Richmond SWAT, Randolph County Emergency Response Team, and an armored vehicle led to Fields surrendering peacefully. 

He was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail, facing initial charges of domestic battery involving a deadly weapon and intimidation with a deadly weapon. Additionally, several pieces of evidence were recovered from the scene.
