Vigo County, IN Crash Update: One Dead After SUV-Van Collision

Vigo County, IN – One person was killed and another suffered minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash in southeastern Vigo County Friday afternoon, according to local authorities.

According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:15 p.m. to the intersection of State Road 246 and South All Street for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries.

Preliminary findings indicate a cargo van was traveling east on State Road 246 when an SUV allegedly failed to yield the right of way and entered the van’s path. Authorities said the SUV then collided with the van.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification procedures.

The driver of the cargo van was transported to Regional Hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries.

The Vigo County Fatal Crash Team responded to assist with the investigation and document the scene. Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Officials have not announced whether any additional factors may have contributed to the crash, and no charges have been reported.

In a statement, Sheriff Derek Fell expressed condolences to those affected by the incident.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this tragic accident,” the sheriff’s office said.

Motorists traveling through the area experienced temporary disruptions while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
