Goodland, IN – A devastating accident in rural Goodland, Indiana, led to the death of a 35-year-old man from Kentland this past weekend. 

Responding to a distress call around 8 PM on Saturday, Newton County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the intersection of US 24 and SR 55 to find an SUV in a ditch, its hazard lights on. Investigation suggests that the SUV, heading east on US 24, swerved off the road, plunged into a ditch, and collided with a culvert.

Emergency personnel administered CPR at the scene before the man was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending family notification. The Newton County Sheriff’s Police are actively investigating the cause of this fatal incident.
