Indiana Christmas Eve Chase Leads to Arrest of Chicago Man in Target Theft Incident

Chicago, IL – A Chicago man is in custody following a theft at a Target store in St. John, Indiana. 

According to St. John Police officers were called to a Target in the 9800 block of Wicker Ave around 7:49 PM on Christmas Eve where suspects were allegedly switching UPC codes on merchandise. When approached by Target security, the suspects fled in a vehicle with Illinois plates.

A chase began when St. John police along with Schererville officers, spotted the suspect vehicle. The pursuit intensified as the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Trevor T. Reed from Chicago, IL, ignored multiple traffic signals. The situation reached a climax in Highland, Indiana, where police successfully deployed stop sticks to halt the vehicle.

Reed, along with another suspect from Alsip, IL, was taken into custody. Reed faces Level 6 Felony charges for Resisting Law Enforcement and Theft. Both suspects now held at the Lake County Jail.
