Hebron, IN – Lake County authorities seized 11 dogs found in unsanitary conditions at a property on East 145th Avenue in Hebron.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, officers arrived at the home Friday and found many dogs with fur matted with feces and open wounds, hindering their movement. The dogs included miniature Shelties, German Shepherds, and a Komondor. Other animals, including 15 horses, a goat, geese, and chickens, were found but not confiscated.

An Indiana State Board of Animal Health veterinarian assessed the dogs for further treatment. The owner cited serious illness as the reason for the neglect. The dogs are now being cared for at the Lake County Sheriff’s Department Animal Control & Adoption Center. The investigation is ongoing.
