Indiana Tragedy: Man Dies in Trench Collapse at Car Wash During Water Pipe Installation

Noblesville, IN – A trench collapse at a new car wash construction site in Noblesville claimed the life of a young man on Monday morning.

The incident occurred at the Crew Car Wash location at the intersection of 146th and Umber Avenue, where the 21-year-old was involved in installing a water pipe. Despite the rapid response of emergency crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after noon.

The Hamilton County Coroner later identified the deceased as Shawn Young of Elwood, Indiana. A total of 26 firefighters from the Noblesville Fire Department responded to the call. The department emphasized the critical nature of safety measures in trenching operations following the tragic event.
