WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL – On a day typically reserved for celebration and joy, Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies heroically turned a family’s despair into relief this Christmas Day, 2023.
Swift action led to the recovery of a stolen camper and the arrest of one suspect, with two others identified and sought. The ordeal began on the morning of December 25, when deputies responded to a theft report on Thompsonville Road.
The case saw a major breakthrough with the acquisition of surveillance footage showing the camper being towed away by an orange Hummer. A citizen’s alertness in noting and reporting the vehicle’s license plate was pivotal, guiding deputies to a Huck’s gas station in Marion. There, Brittany A. Stanley was apprehended on unrelated warrants, and her subsequent interviews unveiled the day’s earlier events involving the theft.
Investigations led to the discovery of the camper, stuck in mud at Levi Flute’s residence, complete with items belonging to its rightful owners. The execution of a search warrant at the property further corroborated the theft.
