Mokena, IL – Two Firefighters Injured, 20 Residents Displaced from Apartment Tuesday

Mokena, IL – A fire broke out in a 12-unit apartment building on the 10700 block of Mary Lane in Mokena on Tuesday afternoon, displacing 20 residents.

According to the Mokena Fire Protection District, the blaze was reported at 3:26 PM and brought under control approximately 20 minutes after crews arrived. The fire started on the third floor, causing significant damage and resulting in an estimated $100,000 in losses. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, with one transported to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, while Mokena Police and units from surrounding areas aided in the response.
