Joliet, IL – Nurses at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet are staging an informational picket today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The action marks nearly a year since contract negotiations began between the Illinois Nurses Association and Ascension, with nurses working without a contract since last July. The ongoing negotiations are being held online due to Ascension’s hesitance to make substantial progress, according to representatives.
The nurses claim a staffing shortage of 300, attributing it to chronic understaffing and wages below market standards. Future negotiation sessions are scheduled for May 7th and May 16th.
