Illinois Golf Course Evacuated During Chase of Lottery Ticket Fraud Suspect

Channahon, IL – The Bluffs Golf Course was evacuated Wednesday morning as authorities pursued a suspect involved in a lottery ticket fraud investigation.

The incident began around 6:09 a.m. when the Minooka Police Department initiated a pursuit of a vehicle on Bluff Road near I-55. The vehicle, sought for a lottery ticket fraud investigation, evaded spike strips deployed on Center Street in Channahon by jumping a curb, nearly striking a Minooka officer. The pursuit continued until the vehicle crashed into a ditch on the west side of Bluff Road. The passenger was apprehended at the scene, while the driver fled into the woods.

Channahon Police, with assistance from the Shorewood Police Department, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, Will County Sheriff’s Department, Joliet Police Department, and Illinois State Police, established a perimeter. Drone and K9 units were deployed to aid the search.

At approximately 8:13 a.m., the suspect was reported running across The Bluffs Golf Course. Police quickly evacuated the area and, with the help of the golf course staff, located the suspect. The individual was taken into custody at 8:40 a.m. without incident.

The passenger sustained minor injuries from the crash and was treated at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. No officers were injured during the operation. The Minooka Police Department has taken over the investigation.
