Will County, IL – A serious incident occurred in Unincorporated Lockport Township, where a 70-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting his 45-year-old neighbor. The altercation took place around 5:37 PM yesterday at the intersection of 144th Place and Rickerman Road, as confirmed by the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Responding to a shots fired call, deputies arrived to find the woman with a critical gunshot wound to her chest. After administering life-saving measures, she was transported to a hospital where she underwent surgery. Meanwhile, the alleged shooter barricaded himself inside his home, prompting a crisis negotiator to intervene. He eventually surrendered without further incident.

Residents were advised to shelter in place via a reverse 911 call during the standoff. Law enforcement continues to maintain a heavy presence in the area as the investigation progresses. The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office is involved in determining forthcoming charges, with updates expected as more evidence is collected.
