US 34 Tragic Bicycle Crash Results in Fatality, Citation – No Arrests

Kewanee, IL – In a sorrowful incident on Friday, a collision on US Highway 34 south of Kewanee claimed the life of a local bicyclist. 

According to police the victim, identified as 31-year-old Tyler L. Bliss of Kewanee, succumbed to life-threatening injuries after being struck by a 2005 Dodge Magnum driven by 20-year-old Darren Chamberlain, also of Kewanee. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by Henry County deputies and subsequent medical attention at OSF-Saint Luke’s Hospital, Bliss was pronounced dead.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Chamberlain, who did not require medical attention at the scene, was cited for unlawful overtaking of a bicycle.
