Unprotected Railroad Crossing Claims Life of Illinois Woman in Rural Amtrak Crash

ODIN, IL – A fatal crash left one dead Friday afternoon when a car driven by 60-year-old woman collided with a southwestern bound Amtrak train on the West Line Road railroad crossing just north of US 50 in rural Odin. 

According to Illinois State Police reports it happened around 3:40 p.m., with Illinois State Police confirming Sheri Foltz of Patoka, Illinois death on the scene. Authorities report a lack of crossing arms at the intersection, although an investigation into the crash is ongoing.  

The identity of the deceased was confirmed even as the investigation is ongoing.
