MOKENA, IL – The Mokena Police Department has announced a significant update to their uniforms with a custom-designed patch, a creative collaboration with Lewis University’s Graphic Design department. This new emblem coincides with the unveiling of their state-of-the-art police station, representing a contemporary chapter for the force.

Chief Benton expressed enthusiasm for the distinctive design, moving away from the widely shared patch of the past. The collaboration with Professor Kristin Callahan and her students has been an inventive journey, with the class delving deep into Mokena’s past to capture its essence.

The final design is a tribute to the Village’s historical milestones, featuring the Rogers Rocket 4-4-0 locomotive and the iconic Yunker Farm Barn set against the backdrop of Mokena’s forest preserves. This redesign is more than an aesthetic update; it is a symbol of Mokena’s identity and the police department’s commitment to the community—a commitment that is now visibly interwoven into the fabric of their uniforms.
