Lombard, IL – Fire Results in $500K Damage, Investigators Seek Cause

Lombard, IL – A fire early Tuesday morning in Lombard caused significant damage to a building, rendering it uninhabitable and resulting in losses estimated at $500,000. The Lombard Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 50 Surrey Drive in Glen Ellyn at approximately 4:52 a.m.

According to the Lombard Fire Department, the first crew arrived within seven minutes and immediately began extinguishing the fire while searching for occupants. Additional firefighters soon arrived to assist with the efforts, ultimately containing the fire to the original unit within 20 minutes. Despite their swift action, smoke and water damage spread throughout the building.

There were no injuries reported among residents or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lombard Fire Investigation Unit. The Red Cross is providing temporary housing for the displaced residents.
