Lake County, IL – Trio Forces Entry into Home Claiming False Fire Emergency in Burglary Incident

Lake Forest, IL – Three suspects forced their way into a Lake Forest home after falsely claiming a fire on the property. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, April 27, at a residence in the 1000 block of West Deerpath Road. 

According to the Lake Forest Police Department, the suspects utilized this ruse to distract the homeowner and gain unauthorized access, subsequently stealing items including jewelry.

This burglary method, known as a ruse burglary, involves deceiving homeowners to facilitate theft. The police are actively investigating this case and urge anyone with information to come forward. Residents are advised to verify the identity of any unexpected visitors and report suspicious activities to enhance community safety.
