Freeport, IL – Family Vehicle Theft Leads to Charges Against Two 13-Year-Olds

Freeport Police charged a 13-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl after a family member reported their vehicle stolen early Friday morning.

The incident involved a blue GMC Terrain, initially reported missing from the 800 block of S. Ottawa Avenue. The juveniles were later apprehended following a brief police chase that concluded near S. Chicago Avenue and E. Frank Street, where the vehicle was found with minor damage.

The Freeport Police Department reported that both suspects, related to the complainant, were taken into custody, processed, and released to a guardian. The quick police response underscored community concerns over juvenile crime in the area.
