MINOOKA, IL — The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office has released preliminary findings in the investigation of the fatal traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at around 6:50 PM at the intersection of Sherrill Road and Grove Road.

According to Grundy County Sheriff’s Investigators, the collision involved a white 2014 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by 32-year-old Jermaine W. Renix of Dolton, IL, and a red 2011 GMC Sierra, driven by 63-year-old Kenneth A. Bolte of Minooka, IL, who was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the initial report, the Freightliner was traveling south on Grove Road and failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with the GMC Sierra traveling east on Sherrill Road. The impact caused the Sierra to become lodged under the trailer of the Freightliner.

Renix, the driver of the Freightliner, was not injured in the incident and has been cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.

Further charges may be pending upon completion of the investigation by the Traffic Accident Reconstructionist, Coroner’s Office, and the Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office.
