Naperville, IL – Police Department Opens Registration for Summer Youth Academy

Naperville, IL – Naperville Police Department is currently accepting applications for its six-week Youth Academy, scheduled to start on May 30, 2024. 

Sessions will take place every Thursday night, except July 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the police department headquarters. This free program is designed to provide local high school students with a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement operations through classes, discussions, and hands-on activities.

According to the department, the academy will cover topics such as patrol operations, use of police canines, investigative procedures, special response team tactics, and forensics. The initiative aims to foster positive interactions between teenagers and police officers.

Eligibility for the academy requires candidates to be high school students or entering high school in fall 2024, reside or attend school in Naperville, have parental consent, and provide their own transportation. Applications must be submitted by May 22, 2024.
