Elmhurst, IL – In a string of early morning vehicle burglaries, Elmhurst police are investigating incidents involving a white Ford sedan.

According to Elmhurst police reports, the events unfolded around 3:30 a.m., with residents between North Avenue and Lake Street reporting burglaries to parked vehicles. An Elmhurst Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle, an older model white Ford Fusion sedan, around 4:00 a.m. and attempted a stop, but the vehicle fled eastbound on I-290.

The chase resumed when detectives from Elmhurst, several suburban agencies, and the Chicago Police Department located the vehicle at 95th and Jeffrey Streets in Chicago. Attempting to escape, the suspects struck a fire hydrant, which disabled their vehicle. Three suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended and are now in custody.

Currently, five vehicle burglaries have been reported to Elmhurst Police, with four occurring on Kimbell, Fremont, and Evergreen streets, and one on Prospect Avenue. Elmhurst Police are urging residents to check any vehicles parked outside for signs of theft and to assist in the investigation by providing any exterior video footage of the suspects or their vehicle. Residents can contact the Elmhurst Police at (630) 530-3050 with information.
