Critical Injuries in Lake County: Man Arrested for Allegedly Slashing Acquaintance

Gages Lake, IL – Sheriff’s detectives in Lake County arrested a local man, Anthony E. Osmena, 23, after he allegedly slashed another man during an argument, leading to critical injuries. 

According to sheriff’s reports the incident occurred on Friday morning when deputies were called to a local hospital where a 24-year-old victim from Round Lake Beach was undergoing surgery.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office say the altercation took place in a car near Eastwood Avenue and Chippewa Road in Gages Lake. After a heated argument, both men exited the vehicle, where Osmena allegedly used a knife to severely wound the victim. The driver immediately transported the victim to the hospital, where he remains in improving condition.

Following an investigation, detectives arrested Osmena at his residence. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged him with multiple felonies, including Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Osmena is currently held at the Lake County Jail, awaiting his first court appearance.
